The Science Behind Stem Cell Therapy for Neuropathy
Stem cells are showing great potential as a viable alternative for those seeking to better manage their neuropathy.
A review study published in Stem Cells Translational Medicine concluded that stem cells have the ability to modify cellular processes to provide a restorative micro environment for damaged nerves, and that through this mechanism, stem cells can potentially fully reverse the root cause of neuropathic pain.
Another very recent 2021 study published in the International Journal of Medical Sciences emphasizes the promising and exciting results of stem cell therapy as a therapeutic prospect for treating neuropathy. The study discusses a 2014 clinical trial which revealed that transplanting stem cells directly into the patient’s spinal cord was able to significantly improve the intensity of their pain and symptoms. Neuropathy stem cell treatments work well because they have a faster onset and longer duration of their favorable effects when compared with conventional treatment options.
